Privacy Policy — Husman

The short version

Husman has no servers, no accounts and no analytics. Everything you enter stays on your iPhone and, if you use iCloud, in your own private iCloud account. The developer cannot see any of it, and nothing is ever sold, shared or used for advertising.

What Husman stores

Husman stores what you type into it:

• Recipes, including their names, portions, preparation times, steps and photos
• Ingredients, ingredient groups, unit conversions and nutrition values
• Tags, prepared meals and your shopping list
• Your food log — meals, dates, meal slots and their energy and nutrients
• Your nutrition range: an energy target, tolerances and how each macronutrient is expressed. If you fill in the optional body profile, it also stores body weight, and optionally height, age, sex and activity level
• Per-device settings, such as whether Apple Health export is on

Husman does not ask for your name, email address, phone number, location or any other identifier, and it has no sign-up or login of any kind.

Where it is stored

All of it is stored in the app's own database on your device.

If you are signed in to iCloud with iCloud Drive enabled, that database is also synced through Apple's CloudKit to the private database of your personal iCloud account, so your iPhones share one library. A private CloudKit database is readable only by you. The developer has no access to it, cannot query it and receives no copy of anything in it. Apple's handling of data in your iCloud account is covered by the Apple Privacy Policy.

Turning off iCloud Drive, or iCloud for Husman in iOS Settings, leaves the app working with a local database only.

Apple Health

Apple Health export is off until you turn it on, and you turn it on separately on each device.

When it is on, Husman writes the meals you log to Apple Health as dietary samples — energy, protein, carbohydrates, fat, fibre, sugars, saturated fat, sodium, iron, calcium, vitamin C and vitamin D. The meal's name is attached to each sample so Health can show what the number was for, along with an internal identifier the app uses to update or remove its own samples later.

Husman never reads your health data. It asks for write permission only, and its read set is empty, so nothing already in Health — including data written by other apps — is visible to it.

Health data is not sent anywhere by Husman. It goes to Apple Health on your device, and from there follows your own Health and iCloud settings.

Removing what Husman wrote is done in the Health app: Health ▸ Profile ▸ Apps ▸ Husman ▸ Delete All Data from Husman. Simply turning the switch off in Husman stops future writes but leaves existing samples in place.

Camera and photos

Husman can read a nutrition panel from a photograph. The photo is taken with the camera or chosen from your photo library, and the text is recognised entirely on your device using Apple's on-device text recognition. The image is not uploaded, not sent to any service, and not saved by the app; it is discarded when you leave the scan.

Photos chosen from your library are handed to the app by the system's own picker, which is why Husman never requests access to your photo library and cannot browse it.

Photos you attach to a recipe are different: those are deliberately saved with the recipe, and therefore sync to your private iCloud along with everything else.

What Husman does not do

• No user accounts, no sign-in, no email address collected
• No analytics, telemetry, usage statistics or crash-reporting SDKs
• No advertising, ad identifiers or tracking of any kind, within the app or across other apps and websites
• No third-party SDKs collecting data
• No servers of the developer's — the app makes no network connections other than the iCloud sync that iOS performs on your behalf
• Nothing is sold, rented or shared with anyone

Crash reports

If you have turned on Settings ▸ Privacy & Security ▸ Analytics & Improvements ▸ Share With App Developers, Apple may send the developer crash and energy reports for Husman. These come from Apple, not from the app, and contain diagnostic information such as the point in the code where the app stopped — not your recipes, your log or anything else you entered. This sharing is controlled by you in iOS Settings and is off unless you enabled it.

Children

Husman is not directed at children, collects no personal data from anyone, and has no social features, messaging or user-to-user content.

Your control over the data

• Delete individual items — anything created in the app can be deleted in the app
• Delete everything — deleting the app removes its local database. To remove the synced copy as well, use iOS Settings ▸ your name ▸ iCloud ▸ Manage Account Storage ▸ Husman
• Remove what went to Apple Health — see the Apple Health section above
• Stop syncing — turn off iCloud for Husman in iOS Settings

Because the developer holds none of your data, there is nothing for the developer to export, correct or erase on request; those controls are the ones listed above, in your own hands. Any rights you have regarding data held in your iCloud account are exercised with Apple.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version is published at the address linked from Husman's Settings screen, with a new date at the top. Material changes will be noted in the app's release notes.
